Communal Bar and Eat House Fires up Brisbane’s Social Scene
Located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, directly across from the casino the Communal Bar and Eat House is ideal for the after-work catch up or an alternative to casino dining.
Offering a vast but familiar menu of share plates, burgers, steaks, salads and of course wood fired pizzas, the contemporary bistro has a casual alfresco atmosphere suitable for groups of all sizes. There’s a range of seating options; both indoor and outdoor with sit-down tables for two, four or six, high bar tables or large share tables for up to 12 people. The alfresco area is large with plenty of room to move around, which is handy since diners order and pay at the counter with meals delivered via table number. The large open-plan kitchen is definitely the feature here and the yellow mosaic Valoriani wood fired oven is definitely a highlight.
The wood fired oven and dedicated Italian pizza chef are kept busy preparing a variety of full flavoured pizzas with standard or gluten free bases. All made with the finest ingredients and a well-balanced selection of high quality toppings such as slow cooked lamb and wood fired chicken, also cooked in the Valoriani oven, of course.
The most unique dish on the menu is not different because of strange ingredients or crazy flavour experiments; in fact it’s a traditional family favourite. It’s unique because rarely are you able to go out to eat a whole wood fired chicken complete with veges and gravy to share like a home cooked Sunday roast.
To fill the time between clocking off work and gaining an appetite or simply to accompany your meals the bar list is just as voluptuous as the food menu. Cocktails are available by the glass or jug and the bar staff can mix up a range of traditional or original concoctions unique to the Communal Bar. However, if you prefer a beer or wine over a sangria or Singapore sling then you can choose from Australian, New Zealand or Italian drops.
Again, the desert menu is a selection of familiar yet tasty options including Nutella and banana pizza or a mouth-watering fudge brownie; perfect to finish off a great meal and easy enough to share amongst your group.
So get a group together for Friday night drinks or take the family somewhere different for the next catch up. Soak up the social atmosphere and maybe meet someone new while sharing a table, but make sure you try out the pizzas or get stuck into your favourite part of the wood fired chicken.
